Use Trupeo from Claude or ChatGPT

Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Trupeo to read, sort and answer your shared mailbox with your own rights, and remove its access whenever you want.

If you already use Claude or ChatGPT, you can give it access to Trupeo. It then works in your shared mailboxes the way you would: it reads emails, replies, hands them over, files them. You talk to it normally, for example:

  • Summarize the emails to assign in the contact address mailbox.
  • Tell Mrs Martin her registration for Saturday is confirmed.
  • File every email from the town hall in the Grants folder.
  • Invite Paul to the club’s mailbox, limited to the Treasury scope.

What the assistant can do

Exactly what you can do, and nothing more. The assistant acts with your account. It sees the mailboxes you are a member of, and in each one the conversations you see: if you are limited to some scopes, so is it.

  • Search and read emails, members, labels, scopes and the address book.
  • Write a new email, reply, forward.
  • Read the mailbox’s templates and your own, and fill in their fields to write an email. The email goes as plain text, without bold, tables or colors. The assistant cannot create or change a template.
  • Hand an email over, mark it done, add a team note, add or remove a label.
  • File into a folder or a scope, and create, rename or delete folders and labels.
  • Move an email to the trash or to spam, and take it back out; mark it read or unread; separate an email into a conversation of its own.
  • Count what is waiting, check that emails are arriving, retry a failed send.
  • Add and edit contacts in the shared address book; create, rename and delete contact groups, add people to a group or take them out, and write to a group in a new email or a reply.
  • Find duplicate contacts, show you a merge and make it, say that two contacts are not the same person, and restore a removed contact.
  • Change your signature, your name and your language; read your notifications, mark them read and delete them.
  • If you own the mailbox: invite someone, resend or withdraw an invitation, remove a member, change a role, manage scopes and the mailbox’s shared signature.

Reading an email through the assistant does not mark it as read: it stays new for you and for the team.

Trupeo tells the assistant which actions are sensitive: sending an email, or retrying one that failed, moving to the trash or to spam, splitting an email off, deleting a folder, a label, a scope, a contact group or notifications, replacing a signature or a contact’s details, merging two contacts, filing an email in a scope, changing what a member sees, inviting, resending or withdrawing an invitation, removing someone, changing a role. Claude and ChatGPT then ask you to confirm before doing them. The other actions can be undone in Trupeo as usual.

What it cannot do: delete a mailbox or your account, touch billing, your password or two-step verification, read a mailbox’s connection credentials, export your data or the contacts, or import a file of contacts. Those stay in Trupeo.

The assistant has the same budget as you in the app, 1,200 actions every five minutes, counted apart: what it does never uses up yours. If it goes past that, Trupeo tells it how many seconds to wait before trying again (“Too many requests to Trupeo. Try again in 20 s.”), and it can carry on after that pause.

What the team sees

What the assistant does, it does in your name, and the conversation says so: between the emails, it reads for example Marie, via Claude, assigned it to Paul. The team knows who acted, and how.

Connect Claude

  1. Open Trupeo in Claude’s connector directory and add it.
  2. Claude opens a Trupeo page, for example “Allow Claude to use your account?”. Sign in if needed. The page says where the request comes from, recalls the mailboxes concerned, what the assistant will be able to do and what it will not. Click the button that names it, for example “Allow Claude”, or “Deny”.
  3. In a Claude conversation, turn Trupeo on from the connectors menu.

If the page warns you that the request leads back to an address Trupeo does not know, or to an address on this computer, carry on only if you know which assistant you are setting up.

You can also add Trupeo by hand, as a custom connector: in Claude’s connector settings, add a custom connector named Trupeo with the address https://app.trupeo.com/mcp, then follow steps 2 and 3. Claude’s free plan accepts a single custom connector. The menus are described in Claude’s help.

For ready-made routines on top of the connector (sorting what is waiting, replying in the team’s name, membership fees, handing over a board, a school office’s day), add the Trupeo plugin for Claude as well.

Connect ChatGPT

Open Trupeo in ChatGPT’s app directory and add it, then allow access on the Trupeo page that opens, as for Claude.

Without the directory, adding an app by its address happens in ChatGPT’s developer mode, which your ChatGPT plan has to allow: give the address https://app.trupeo.com/mcp. The steps are described in OpenAI’s documentation.

Other assistants that can connect to an MCP server work the same way, with the same address.

What the assistant’s company sees

What the assistant reads in Trupeo goes through the servers of the company that runs it (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT), under its own terms. Trupeo sends it nothing on its own: only what the assistant asks for, while you use it. What Trupeo keeps about that connection is described in the privacy policy.

Remove access

In the settings, “Your account” group, the “Assistants” page first recalls what an assistant never does, then lists, under “Connected assistants”, the assistants you have allowed, with the date each was allowed. “Remove access” cuts it off: the line says “Removing access…” for a few seconds, with “Undo”, then the assistant has to ask you again to come back.

Deleting your account also removes every connected assistant. If a member connects their own assistant, it is up to them to remove it: everyone manages their own.
