Connect a Gmail mailbox

Connect a Gmail or Google Workspace shared address to Trupeo with Google sign-in, and what to do if your administrator has to approve it.

Updated on July 24, 2026

A @gmail.com address and an address on your own domain hosted by Google Workspace connect the same way. The Google account owner authorizes Trupeo, and the first conversations then arrive in the shared inbox.

Before you start

Allow about 5 minutes of hands-on time, plus the manual validation delay. The person who can sign in to the shared Google account should complete the Google authorization themselves. They can do it alongside you, but they enter the password only on Google’s page. They never give it to you or to Trupeo.

Trupeo checks that the Google account used for authorization exactly matches the mailbox address being connected. A personal Google account is refused.

During the current beta, Google may display “Google hasn’t verified this app”. Continue only if you started from Trupeo and the address bar shows accounts.google.com. Before Google opens, Trupeo may also pause the connection for a manual check. Both screens are explained below.

Connect the mailbox

  1. On “Which mailbox do you want to connect?”, enter the shared address and select “Continue”. Trupeo identifies Google from the address and its mail domain.

    Start with the shared addressUse the address your team replies from, not your personal Google address.
  2. If Trupeo shows “Manual validation in progress”, stop there. Our team is notified automatically. You can close the window and use the link in our email to resume when the address is approved.

    Wait for the resume emailDo not restart the setup. The email returns you to the same mailbox.
  3. Resume on “Connect Gmail”, then continue to Google. Check that the page is on accounts.google.com, select “Continue” on Google’s warning, sign in as the shared mailbox, and accept the requested access.

    Verify the page before continuingThe account owner completes this Google step without sharing the password.

What Trupeo asks for, and why

Google asks you to accept two accesses, both limited to the mailbox being connected:

  • Read and organize its messages. This shows conversations in Trupeo, marks a message as read, and keeps both sides in step.
  • Send messages from its address. This lets the team reply from the shared address instead of a personal inbox.

Trupeo asks for nothing outside that mailbox: not your other Google accounts, Drive, or the calendar.

If your Google Workspace administrator blocks it

A Workspace administrator can restrict third-party applications. In that case, Google refuses the authorization at the end of the flow, whoever starts it.

The administrator needs to allow the Trupeo application for the organization. If access is opened address by address, give them the shared address concerned. If they need precise technical details, write to us and we will provide them.

The connection is successful when

  • the shared mailbox opens in Trupeo without returning to manual validation;
  • the first conversations appear in the inbox;
  • older messages continue importing in the background without blocking replies.

If this is your first mailbox, continue with Connect your first mailbox.
